I had noticed this picture in Mick's favs on FA and I must say that I am always delighted to see one of your designs popping up for one very particular reason! Despite your creatures and designs having a very intimidating and sometimes disturbing demeanor, all of your creations have this very wonderful, for lack of a better term, humanity to them. What I'm saying is that all of your creatures are wonderfully relatable, and full of expressions (as I very well saw with your Rage expression sheet) and it's always wonderful to see that kind of personality in what we would normally find monsters.
Another reason this pic stood out for me was its familiarity! When I first saw this pic, I had quite liked it as I normally would with one of your other designs, but after looking closely, I thought to myself, "Heeey... those bumps on the neck... and those ears! This is what Lingrimm's character Ujin is, isn't it!" It must be, and I must say, they do a really good job of humanizing this race as well! In fact, he kind of strikes me as a sweety in their pictures <3
I see what you mean here and I am not just glad - but Happy to hear that I reach one of my goles while depicting these creatures ) The point in them having so much of a human personality is in the fact that... they all are actually humans! Roumenrou, caerran, seraph and etc. - are types of animas, companion spirits, whose "body" animite (be it human or other humanoid race) may borrow for some time. Well, you saw Anima-owner relashionships reference, you know what I mean X3
But for example, these creatures [link] are animals. Quite intelligent - I'd say, scarily intelligent - but still only animals.
I know this is silly, but I love how everything you create looks relatively innocent then it smiles...and the teeth appear or you do a size comparison and just think for a few minutes....I would shit myself if I meet them...in broad daylight....with a gun.
Very interesting concept. And just a question, but do all of the animas have to look so menacing? I wonder if somewhere out there is a "nirvana" anima. Not that I don't like them, they're my favorite, love the dark stuff, but just a fun idea!
There are plenty of! It's just a specifics of concrete planet of the setting - I am currently working on it, mainly. Aaaaaand as I am a fan of dark things, I always start from the dark creatures X3
